No matter the source of your leg cramps &#8211; whether they be a symptom of pregnancy, old age, <strong>restless leg syndrome</strong>, or something else &#8211; the hurtful nuisances can be prevented and relieved with the right techniques.</p>
<p><strong>Relieving leg cramps</strong></p>
<p>Should you be lying in bed and get a leg cramp, the best method to relieve it is to <strong>massage</strong> the cramping muscle. Usually the muscles that cramp are in your upper calf. Sit up in bed and place the ankle of the cramping leg across your other knee. Using both hands, massage the painful muscle until it starts to relax. </p>
<p>When you gotten the muscle to unclench, you can provide further relief by flexing your foot forward and back. Be sure to do this carefully as stretching too hard may cause another cramp. To finish walk around a little to ensure the cramp is fully gone. </p>

A great advantage of this pressure point is it is discreet and easy to do yourself.&#160; By placing pressure on this point you can provide yourself relief without it being obvious that you have a headache. </p>
<p>Another area that can make a huge difference in how you feel is right in between your big toe and second toe. To relieve headaches, put your fingertip or one of your knuckles on the base of your foot in between these toes, as close to the toes as you can get, and add pressure. Start gently, and gradually increase pressure. </p>
<p>One thing you really don&#8217;t want to do with pressure point massage is ever press too hard. Start lightly and keep in mind that you can always apply a little more pressure; if you push too much straight away, you could end up in more pain than you began in. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On the face of it calculating your <strong>Body Mass Index (BMI)</strong> might seem baffling and impossible to figure out but this is actually not the case. <strong>BMI</strong> isn&#8217;t quantum physics (whatever that is) and because there are convenient <a href="http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/bminojs.htm" target="_blank"><strong>BMI calculators</strong></a> available it&#8217;s not something we often have to think about. Whether or not you have used a BMI calculator before it&#8217;s probable at some point in your life you have been given a BMI score, even if <strong><a href="http://www.troohealthcare.com/weight-loss-6/" target="_blank">weight loss</a></strong> has never been a particular goal. We&#8217;re going to take a closer look at what BMI is and how the score you get is figured out. </p>
<p>Body Mass Index, as it&#8217;s name suggests, is a measurement of body mass. By making a comparison of your weight and height, in this case dividing your weight by your height, squared, the BMI formula brings us to a single number.&#160; Your BMI score is then tracked to a special scale,&#160; showing you where you stand in comparison to <strong>your ideal weight</strong> for your height &#8211; i.e. underweight, normal range, overweight, or obese.&#160; </p>
<p><strong>BMI does not measure body fat</strong>, however, so often the number is misleading when used on athletes or very muscular people.&#160; As muscle weighs more than fat BMI cannot be considered an accurate measure for someone with more than average <a href="http://www.troohealthcare.com/sports-nutrition-supplements-12/muscle-building-supplements-158/" target="_blank">muscle build</a>.&#160; For the majority of people, though, it&#8217;s a very good estimate of body weight in comparison to height.&#160; So how do we arrive at that magic BMI number? </p>
<p>BMI calculations may appear complicated, but they&#8217;re really not. At its most simple, the formula is kg/m2.&#160; Or your weight in kilograms divided by your height in meters, squared (your height in meters times itself). Somebody who is 5.5 feet tall stands at around 1.7 meters.&#160; Square that number (1.7 times 1.7) and you come up with 2.89. If this person weighs 150 pounds then their weight is approx 68 kilograms.&#160; So in this case the BMI calculation to determine this person&#8217;s BMI would be 68 divided by 2.89 = 23.5. </p>
<p>On the BMI scale a person with a score of 18.5 or below suggests that an individual is underweight. The normal weight range is from 18.5 to 24.9.&#160; People who are overweight will calculate a BMI of between 25 to 29.9.&#160; A BMI of 30 or higher indicates obesity. So, as with the example, a person with a BMI score of 23.5 is within their normal weight range, according to the BMI calculations. </p>
<p>If you don&#8217;t wish to convert feet and pounds to meters and kilograms, then you could utilise one of the other BMI calculations to figure your score. In the previous example this person&#8217;s new formula would be weight in pounds, 150, times 4.88, or 732, divided by their height in feet squared (5.5 times 5.5) which is 30.25.&#160; You would then divide weight by height squared (732 divided by 30.25) and the end result is 24.1, very close to the metric formula&#8217;s result. BMI calculations can also be figured by taking weight in pounds times 703, and dividing by height in inches, squared.&#160; </p>

Unfortunately most people do not realise the importance of ensuring they consume plenty of water each day. Not only does water encourage your system to flush itself out, it also prevents dehydration &#8211; a symptom of which can be a feeling of hunger.&#160; In general terms, most<strong> weight loss plans</strong> are based around consuming fewer <strong>calories</strong> than we use each day. This appears to be a simple enough concept doesn&#8217;t it? So how does water come into significance? </p>
<p>Water contains no calories so you can literally consume as much water as you wish without putting on weight. For most people there are also no health considerations to consider when consuming water &#8211; except perhaps if you have a water retention issue. In relation to other drinks though you do not need to think twice before drinking water. Hopefully it is already part of your <strong>daily diet</strong> but for many people it is not.</p>
<p>Water helps to flush out your system and is one of the best liquids you can drink. If you are attempting&#160; to shed weight, then ultimately you should totally remove any sugar based drinks from your daily diet. Carbonated drinks such as coke are good examples of such drinks &#8211; though diluting juices can also contain lots of sugar too. Such drinks contain nothing of substance and are crammed with artificial ingredients, not to mention sugar and calories. If you consume two cans of fizzy drink per day, those extra calories could be the difference between gaining and losing weight. Exchanging these with water can eliminate the cause of your weight gain. How easy is that? </p>
<p>Admittedly some people don&#8217;t like the taste of water. Water lovers don&#8217;t understand this, but it&#8217;s a fact. In all likelihood, people who say they don&#8217;t like water are referring to plain unfiltered tap water. Tap water can vary in taste depending on where you live and even on a house by house basis &#8211; I hated the water in my old house but love it where I live now. If you&#8217;re a person who hates the taste of water based on what flows out of your tap then you should try buying spring water. Even the taste of spring water can change by brand, so if you don&#8217;t like the first the keep trying them all until you find one you enjoy.&#160; </p>
<p>Although water is a critical component of weight loss plans, keep in mind that water is not a substitute for food, but it should simply complement your daily diet. Instead of a fizzy drinks or sugar fruit juice at dinner, have a glass or two of water. It is also recommended to begin the day off with a refreshing glass of water to rehydrate from your nights sleep and encourage your brain to get active. Drinking water and maintaining body hydration will also <strong><a href="http://www.troohealthcare.com/memory-mental-health-48/memory-concentration-128/" target="_blank">enhance brain function</a></strong> and keep you alert &#8211; you might just find it works better than your coffee which dehydrates you.</p>
<p>To conclude if you don&#8217;t currently consume plenty of water on a daily basis you are not only harming your health, you could also be hindering any weight loss goals. Water is an amazing natural substance that we all need. In the developed world we are fortunate enough to have freedom of access to it. There are no excuses for not taking your daily allowance.</p>
